MORE ON ALCOHOL AND DRUGS

Alcohol and drugs ruin a person physically and
spiritually. The use of these substances has been
killing people faster than the deadliest wars of all
history. Like Christians, most religions. Hinduism,
Buddhism, Islam. All teach and preach against
alcoholism.

SCRIPTURAL REFERENCES
In the Bible, wine is used for worship (Melkizedek to
Abraham: Genesis 14:18), for drink offering (Exodus
29:40; Leviticus 23:13; Numbers 28:7), and at the Last
Supper (Matthew 26:27-29). God created wine to quench
thirst (Psalms 104:15; Isaiah 55:1). Jesus changed
water into wine (John 2:1-11). It is also used for
medicinal purposes (1Timothy 5:23). But one should not
be addicted to alcoholism.

THE TWELVE STEPS TO OVERCOME DRUGS AND ALCOHOLISM:

1. Admit that you have become powerless and unmanageable.
2. Believe that a power greater than you could restore.
3. Make decision to turn your will and life (surrender) to the care of God.
4. Make searching and fearless inventory of yourselves.
5. Admit to God, to yourselves and to others the exact nature of shortcomings.
6. Be ready to have the Almighty God remove all your
weaknesses.
7. Humbly ask God to help remove your wrongs.
8. Make a list of people you had harmed and try to amend them.
9. Try direct amendments to such people.
10. Continue to take personal inventory and try to heal the wounded.
11. Pray and meditate to overcome through the blessings of the Almighty.
12. Practice all the good principles with a spiritual
awakening.

Be a good role model. Talk to others about the bad effects of drugs, listen to their reactions, and help them to get out of their addictions. Talk about strong values and create self-esteem. Help to deal with peer pressure and maintain firm rules and discipline. Learn
what to do when we suspect a problem and have creative, alternative activities.
